Do you ever feel like the vision God has for your future is too big, too impossible, or simply not meant for you? I'm here to tell you that you're not alone in those thoughts. We all have moments of doubt, but if that vision consistently stays on your mind and aligns with God's truth, it's from Him. The more I leaned into these insights, the more God showed me. Writing it all down through listening prayer was an eye-opener for me, and I know it can be for you too. My life hasn't been easy, but like a boxer, I've learned to get back up after every knock down. God trains and equips us to keep going. My encouragement to you is to just keep getting up, keep showing up, and consider journaling as a tool to help you reach your goals.

Actionable Faith: Journaling Your God-Given Goals

Start by writing down the visions and goals God has shown you. Keep them simple, in point form.

Keep it Simple: Focus on 6–8 goals.
Break Them Down: Break them down into smaller, actionable steps.
Create a Plan: Create a focused plan you can apply on a daily basis.
Pray for wisdom: Always ask God for guidance as you pursue your vision.
Grace: Give yourself grace and others if you miss a task or make a mistake, just keep getting up like Rocky Balboa ;)

Each day, these steps will bring you closer to your end goals. Always prayerfully ask God for wisdom on how to accomplish these goals.

Creative Ways to Journal: Writing and Drawing Your Vision

If you are an artistic person, I invite you to draw and invite God in. Allow him to show you the vision and goals He has for you. Have fun with the process as you write or draw the things that come to mind or the thoughts that come to you. Remember, God gives us the desires of our hearts, meaning he gives us those ideas when we delight in him. When we give our life to Christ He shapes us, and He gives us new desires, not worldly ones that don’t last but Godly ones that last and serve a purpose that will leave a lasting impact in the world.

“Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this”
(Psalms 37:4–5).

God’s Promises for Your Future

I cannot tell you all the sweet visions God has given me about my future. To be honest, they scare me—they seem impossible for me. But the more I read about what God thinks about me and the more I meditate on His promises, the more I know His will for my life. It’s then I faithfully take the next step as He leads me because I know He is with me, guiding me through. I know that without him I am nothing; in my weakness, I am made strong because of His strength.

Here’s what I want you to know: God will do the same for you! He is not a respecter of person (Acts 10:34), meaning it doesn't matter who you are or what you’ve done. If you want a relationship with Him and you want to know His will for your life, then simply start a conversation with him.

Anchoring Scriptures

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and these things will be given to you as well (Matthew 6:33)”

“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. (Ephesians 5:15-17)”

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)”

Walk in your authority

God wants us to walk in our God-given authority. For example, what was stolen from me and the biggest lie I believed was that I was unworthy of being heard or seen. My voice went under attack at the tender age of 6, after a teacher told me to stop raising my hand to answer a question, saying “not you.” I believe that was the number one way the enemy got in my ear and said I was unworthy. I hold nothing against the teacher; maybe she was tired or maybe I was being disruptive. Regardless, the enemy used that as an opportunity to mussel me. Years of trauma and insecurities continued to rob me of my voice. It was not until I was willing to let God all in and heal me from the inside out that I started to see who I was in Christ, His beloved daughter. And let me tell you, I need to be reminded of this often. YOU my dear are also His beloved child and He wants all of us to truly know that, so that He may be glorified through you. He WANTS to partner with you. God created us in His image to create and build with him. If the Holy Spirit dwells within you, make room for Him to move, surrender your days, go on a fast, just run to God, you CAN trust Him, for He is a good father.

The Best Journal Prompts to Hear God's Voice

I am so passionate about journaling and I know it can bring your life so much clarity and abundance, to the point that you begin to overflow love and grace to others. It is a powerful tool to help you embrace God's promises and pursue the unique calling He has designed for you. To get you started on your journey, here are a few of my best prompts that have helped me the most:

Start with Gratitude: Begin your session with the Lord’s Prayer, but personalize it by giving God thanks and praises for everything from the day before.
Be Honest with God: Share all your emotions and challenges with Him. Ask God for forgiveness for your shortcomings and for a strategy to overcome the situation.
Find an Anchor: Add an anchoring Bible verse for that struggle. Stand firmly on His word and promises.
Ask for Direction: Ask God questions about your purpose and your life. What is He calling you to do today?
Listen and Receive: Pause and listen. Often, my section of journaling is quite long, while God’s responses are much shorter but very impactful. He often speaks His word right back to me,
giving me peace and direction.
